In March 2008, Maureen and her husband Don Vinge visited a school in rural Cambodia that touched her heart. They brought with them a box full of reading books, charts, and maps for the school. Koh Kandal School, built by Lutheran World Federation Cambodia, provides the only opportunity for primary education to children in this impoverished area.
After the visit, she came up with an initiative to support a bicycle project that could facilitate the transportation of students to secondary school.
Now, at this time of loss, Don is asking that memorial donations made by friends and family be directed to the school. “In the spirit of Maureen’s life and work, we want to make a difference in the lives of Koh Kandal students,” Don said.
